During the 1620's, Autocratic Stuart Monarchs- James I(r.1603-1625) and Charles I(r. 1625-1659) who succeeded Queen Elizabeth
on the English throne fought constantly with elected member of the parliament. In the early mid-seventeenth century, the English
establish two successful but diverse colonies around the Chesapeke Bay.(Virginia and Maryland) The key to the Middle Colonies-New
York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware-was diversity, both wihtin and among the several colonies. Because were persecuted
in England, the Quaker came to the New World and settled Pennsylvania. Quakers turned away from Calvinism and its belief of
original sin and enternal Predestination. The English settled the land south of Virginia as a result of the Restoration of
King Charls II. He offered the area asa reward to a few of his followers.
